Call for Experts – Global Action for Measurement of Adolescent Health (GAMA) Advisory Group (AG)
Deadline for Submission: 15 July 2024
Date: 20 June 2024
Call for Experts:
The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking experts to join the Global Action for Measurement of Adolescent Health (GAMA) Advisory Group (AG). This call provides information about the AG, the expert profiles being sought, and the process for expressing interest and selection.
Background:
Improving health outcomes for adolescents aged 10-19 years is a priority for WHO and its partners, as outlined in the second edition of the Global Accelerated Action for the Health of Adolescents (AA-HA! 2.0). To track progress, evidence-informed measurement of adolescent health behaviors, outcomes, and policy implementation is essential.
Established in 2018, GAMA AG provides technical guidance to WHO, UN H6+ agencies, and other relevant groups to define a core set of adolescent health indicators. GAMA has selected 47 indicators across six domains for global, regional, and national measurement, documented in over 20 publications.
Functions of the GAMA AG:
- Advise WHO and UN H6+ agencies on strategies to improve adolescent health measurement.
- Update the work plan and deliverables to meet GAMA’s objectives.
- Support the dissemination and uptake of GAMA-recommended indicators.
- Recommend priorities for research to address measurement gaps.
- Support the delivery of products defined in the work plan.
- Act as advocates for GAMA’s work and collaborate with partner AGs.
Operations:
GAMA AG meets twice a year, with additional meetings as necessary. Meetings may be held virtually or in person. Sessions are categorized as open or closed, with open sessions allowing for non-confidential information exchange and closed sessions for formulation of recommendations.
