About the LA2050 Grants Challenge
Since 2013, the LA2050 Grants Challenge, driven by the Goldhirsh Foundation, has been an open call for transformative ideas aimed at making Los Angeles County the best place to connect, create, learn, live, and play. With over $10 million awarded to 140 local social impact organizations, this initiative has thrived thanks to the support of hundreds of thousands of Angelenos. This year marks our 11th cycle, and we’re excited to see your proposals.
How It Works
- April 2nd – May 8th, 2024: Angelenos cast 105,000 votes on the issues that matter most.
- May 15th, 2024: Top-voted issues announced.
- May 15th – June 28th, 2024: Grant applications open.
- July 1st – September 26th, 2024: Proposals evaluated.
- September 26th, 2024: Grant recipients announced.
Apply Now for Up to $75,000
Non-profit, for-profit, fiscally-sponsored, and governmental organizations serving Los Angeles County can apply for up to $75,000 to address the issues most important to our community. Don’t miss this chance to make a significant impact.
Key Goals of LA2050
Our vision for Los Angeles by 2050 focuses on five key areas:
- Learn: A well-resourced, culturally-responsive education system.
- Create: A hub of innovation and arts.
- Play: Access to vibrant parks and recreation spaces.
- Connect: The most civically engaged region in the U.S.
- Live: The lowest poverty rate and income inequality in the nation.
Prizes
The Goldhirsh Foundation will award $1 million, distributed as follows:
- 10 First Prizes: $75,000 each
- 5 Second Prizes: $50,000 each
Additional funding partner awards will bring the total prize pool to over $2 million.

- Access to Tech and Creative Industry Employment: Sponsored by the Snap Foundation, focused on underrepresented groups.
- Affordable Housing and Homelessness: Improving housing quality and support for vulnerable populations.

- Food Insecurity and Access to Basic Essentials: Sponsored by the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and the Annenberg Foundation.
- Green Space, Park Access, and Trees: Increasing outdoor spaces for all residents.
- Health Care Access: Connecting communities to essential health services.
- Income Inequality: Providing resources and support to reduce economic disparities.
- K-12 STEAM Education: Enhancing education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
- Mental Health: Sponsored by the Annenberg Foundation, promoting equitable access to mental health care.
- Public Transit: Improving the quality and accessibility of public transit.
- Social Support Networks: Reducing isolation and promoting communal care.
- Support for Foster and Systems-Impacted Youth: Providing comprehensive support for vulnerable youth.
- Youth Economic Advancement: Sponsored by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and the R & S Kayne Foundation.
