Internship Opportunity with UNDP’s Human Development Report Office

Background: HDRO’s mission is to advance human development by expanding opportunities, choice, and freedom. Interns play a crucial role in this mission, supporting young scholars’ professional development and enhancing analytical and statistical skills.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will work closely with senior HDRO staff on the preparation of Human Development Reports and related products. Key responsibilities include:
- Quantitative and qualitative background research
- Literature reviews and short research notes
- Review and verification of statistical materials
- Analysis and presentation of human development statistics
- Data source identification and dataset preparation
- Fact-checking and proofreading
- Development of high-impact communications materials
Competencies:
- Proven research and writing skills
- Familiarity with human development concepts
- Team-work orientation and cultural sensitivity
- Enthusiasm and commitment to learning
- Knowledge of UNDP vision, mission, and values
Required Skills and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. Program
- Previous experience in research, policy development, or communication for development
- Familiarity with the Human Development concept is an asset
- Experience with Excel, Stata, R, and Python is an asset
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; competency in other UN languages is an asset
Working Arrangements:
- Interns may receive a stipend according to UNDP Internship Policy
- Full-time work is expected, with flexibility for education programs
- Interns are responsible for medical insurance, visas, and travel arrangements
- The internship does not lead to further employment with UNDP
- Interns will be evaluated at the end of the contract
- Interns must provide their own laptop
