PAID Research Assistant Internships at The Wilson Center: Apply Now for Fall 2024
Overview
The Wilson Center is now accepting applications for Research Assistant Internships for the Fall 2024 term. These internships offer undergraduate, recent graduates, and graduate students the opportunity to work alongside leading scholars and contribute to in-depth research on pressing global issues. Applications must be submitted by August 16.
Internship Timelines
- Spring: Applications open in November, internships run January through May.
- Summer: Applications open in March, internships run June through August.
- Fall: Applications open in July, internships run September through December.
About the Research Assistant Internship
Research Assistant interns typically work 12-15 hours per week, providing vital support to their assigned scholars. Interns engage in activities such as academic analysis, attending relevant events, and networking with experts. They are paid a monthly stipend of $500 and may also receive academic credit.
Activities and Responsibilities
Interns assist scholars with:
- Research using the Wilson Center Library’s resources
- Proofreading and editing
- Compiling bibliographies
- Writing literature reviews
- Summarizing research materials
Interns also participate in panel discussions, conferences, and other Center events.
Eligibility
- Open to undergraduates, recent graduates, or graduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Must be a current student, recent graduate (within one year), or accepted into an advanced degree program.
- International students studying in the US on F-1 or J-1 visas with proper work authorization are eligible.
- The Wilson Center does not sponsor visas for interns.

Application Process
To apply, applicants will need to submit the Research Assistant Internship Application form and required documents, listed below.
Application materials include:
- Completed Wilson Center Internship Application Form
- Cover Letter (indicating academic interests or areas of interest)
- Current Resume (indicating relevant coursework)
- 3-5 page Writing Sample (excerpts of a research paper are acceptable) with bibliography
- 2 letters of recommendation, or a brief list of references
- Recommenders may send their letters directly to internships@wilsoncenter.org if they would prefer not to share them with applicants. Please indicate the applicant’s name in the subject line of the email.
- Transcript(s) (unofficial copies are acceptable)
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
