About the CEF Team

Since 1997, the Wilson Center’s China Environment Forum (CEF) has been the go-to resource for convening policy, business, research, and NGO practitioners globally to tackle energy, water, and pollution problems in China. CEF plays a unique, nonpartisan role in fostering multi-stakeholder dialogues on China’s environmental challenges and identifying new collaboration areas.

Internship Opportunities

The China Environment Forum offers internships to students studying or experienced in environmental and energy challenges in China and related trans-boundary issues. Current projects include US-China climate leadership to reduce GHG emissions in agriculture and plastics, and climate threats to vulnerable deltas in China and Southeast Asia. Interns will gain professional research, writing, and communication skills, preparing them for careers in environmental, energy, and climate policy.

Details

  • Position: Paid ($17.45/hr.), part-time
  • Duration: Late August/early September 2024 to December 2024, with a potential extension
  • Hours: 25 hours per week, in-person in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Writing/editing articles for peer-reviewed or popular media
  • Conducting research from various sources to support ongoing projects
  • Event management and logistical support for conferences and panels
  • Fundraising through grant preparation for research proposals
  • Curating social media content and managing website content
  • Preparing and designing publication and outreach materials
  • Attending relevant events at the Wilson Center and around Washington, D.C.

Requirements

  • Strong English editing and writing skills
  • Bonus for high fluency in Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken)
  • Strong research skills
  • Detail-oriented and capable of handling multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a group
  • Enrolled in a degree program, recently graduated, or accepted into an advanced degree program within the next year
  • Documented interest in China, environmental studies, or both
  • Skilled in major social networking sites
  • Preferred experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and knowledge of information graphics and data visualization best practices
