Learning Sciences Exchange (LSX) Announces 2024-25 Focus Fellowship Program ($1500 stipend plus travel funds)
The Learning Sciences Exchange (LSX) is seeking applications for its groundbreaking fellowship program designed for mid-career professionals. This program brings together a diverse group of individuals from various sectors to collaborate on projects that promote communication of new research and drive positive change in schools and communities.
Focus on Family Engagement
This year’s cohort will focus on parent and family engagement in elementary and middle schools. The program is open to applicants from the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Who can Apply?
- Researchers in family engagement, child development, cognitive science, and related fields.
- Social-impact entrepreneurs with experience in family engagement or children’s learning initiatives.
- Education journalists with expertise in reporting on education, social science, and family issues.
- Entertainment producers and game developers creating products that support learning.
Program Structure
- Fellowship Teams: Fellows will collaborate in teams to develop cross-sector projects that address specific family engagement challenges faced by three schools in Pennsylvania. The chosen schools have already seen success with the Parents as Allies program and are seeking to expand on these efforts.
- LSX Summit: The program kicks off with a two-day summit in Washington, DC, for orientation and team building.
- Virtual Co-design Sessions: Fellows will meet virtually on a monthly basis to co-design innovative tools and strategies to address the identified needs of the partner schools.
- School Site Visits: In March, fellows will visit each of the partner schools to gain a deeper understanding of their needs.
- Project Implementation: By May, the developed projects will be implemented by the schools’ principals.
