The Health and Migration Programme (PHM), part of WHO’s Healthier Populations Division, provides global leadership and direction on health and migration. The PHM works towards significant health improvements for refugees and migrants, implementing the Global Action Plan, and aligning with WHO’s Constitution, GPW13, and the SDGs.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Junior Professional Officer (JPO) with the PHM, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing Competency Gaps: Reviewing and analyzing the competency gaps, needs, and programmes for health workers in target countries.
  • Developing Competency Programmes: Supporting the development of competency strengthening programmes for health workers, aligned with global standards.
  • Implementing Programmes: Collaborating with stakeholders to conceptualize and implement competency development programmes.
  • Engaging in Policy Dialogues: Assisting in policy dialogues related to refugee and migrant health.
  • Translating Knowledge: Converting programmatic knowledge into learning programmes for WHO platforms.
  • Supporting Projects: Implementing projects on refugee and migrant health in collaboration with other teams.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Education: Advanced university degree in medicine, public health, or social sciences.
  • Experience: At least two years of professional experience in public health, policy, and capacity building.
  • Languages: Expert knowledge of English.
