Objectives

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers these scholarships to promote scientific and technological cooperation, international cultural exchange, and Italian language and culture. The scholarships support Italy’s economic system globally (According to Law 288/55 and its subsequent amendments). They are available for study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes, both public and legally recognized.

Scholarship Coverage

The Italian Government Scholarship provides recipients with the following benefits:

Health and Medical Insurance

Grantees receive health and medical/accident insurance contracted by MAECI for the entire duration of the grant. Insurance coverage does not apply to events resulting from pre-existing conditions.

Tuition Fees

Grantees may be exempt from enrollment and tuition fees depending on each university’s policy. Exemptions do not apply to courses in Italian language and culture, for which enrollment fees are required.

Financial Grant

Grantees receive a monthly allowance of 900 euros, paid quarterly to their Italian bank account.

  • Research Projects: Applicants must be under 40 years old by the deadline.

  • PhD: Requires meeting the entry requirements and academic qualifications of the Italian University, along with a letter of acceptance.
