🌟 Meaning-Making Research Initiative (MRI) Overview: Since 2017, CODESRIA has been empowering scholars through MRI, a dynamic research support platform. MRI aims to contribute to shaping African futures and enhancing the visibility of research. Our initiative encourages innovative approaches beyond traditional formats, fostering exploration and understanding of African social realities.

🔍 Key Selection Criteria for Projects:

• Align with CODESRIA’s 2023-2027 Strategic Plan
• Grounded exploration of African societies, institutions, and contexts
• Engage rigorously with African futures
• Theoretical ambition with innovative approaches
• Address diversity, including gender, and demonstrate familiarity with CODESRIA’s work
• Clear questions, sound methodology, and conceptual framing

👥 Individual and Group Initiatives: Whether individual or group projects (3-5 members), MRI welcomes diverse applications. Groups are encouraged to embrace gender, linguistic, intergenerational, and interdisciplinary diversity. Up to USD 10,000 for individual projects and up to USD 25,000 for group projects.

🌐 Thematic Priorities: Explore one of the following thematic priorities:

1. Higher education dynamics in Africa
2. The State and Democratisation in Africa: Trends and Prospects
3. Transformations in African Economies
4. Ecologies and Society in Africa
