The Science and Technology Venture Capital (VC) Fellowship is a groundbreaking initiative designed to bolster investor capability in identifying and deploying capital into high-potential, scalable ventures in the life sciences and deep tech sectors. This twelve-month programme, delivered by Imperial College London and the Royal Academy of Engineering, offers a comprehensive blend of knowledge development, experiential learning, mentoring, and networking opportunities. It aims to cultivate a robust talent pipeline in the UK’s science and technology VC investment landscape.

Programme Overview
The Fellowship is meticulously crafted to provide mid-career VCs and entrepreneurs transitioning into VC with tailored, best-in-class content and teaching in the deep tech and life sciences sectors. Key features include:

Eligibility and Commitment
The programme targets mid-level VC investors, related investment professionals, and recently exited entrepreneurs transitioning into VC, who are interested in enhancing their ability to manage venture capital funds in the science and engineering sectors. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be based in the UK.
- Work in a UK-based VC firm, pension fund, institutional investor, or be an exited founder with Series B+ equity funding experience.
- Have a minimum of 3 years of engagement in the UK VC ecosystem.
- Have support from their firm or prospective employer to join the programme.
Successful applicants will be required to contribute £15,000 towards the Fellowship, typically covered by the employer. Scholarships may be available for those without employer sponsorship.
Programme Structure and Dates
The Fellowship is designed to run alongside current employment, with core instruction, experiential learning, and networking sessions delivered across seven sessions (every 6-8 weeks). Key dates and modules include:
- Foundational Module: September 2024 – April 2025, London.
- Professional Engagement Module: October 2024 – September 2025, various locations across the UK.
- Graduation: September 2025, London.
Fellows will be announced on 9 September 2024, marking the start of their journey in shaping the future of the UK’s deep tech and life sciences investment landscape.
