What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll work in teams typically comprising 3 to 5 consultants, actively engaging in all aspects of client engagement. Your responsibilities will include gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing and communicating recommendations. You’ll also have the opportunity to present results to client management and collaborate with client team members to implement recommendations.
Junior Associates at McKinsey receive exceptional training and ongoing coaching and mentoring from colleagues. This support includes guidance from a Partner assigned to you to help shape your career, along with up to five weeks of formal training in your first few years. You’ll also receive assistance from your local office or practice in selecting client projects, allowing you to develop your skills and expand your professional network.
While specialized knowledge is developed over time, McKinsey consultants typically start with broad focus areas, meaning specific industry or functional expertise is not required initially. This allows for flexibility in building on previous knowledge or exploring new areas, even for experienced professionals joining McKinsey.
Qualifications
- University degree with an excellent academic record
- Demonstrated academic, managerial, or professional achievement
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership experience in academic, professional, or extracurricular settings
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Effective communication skills in English and the local office language(s)
- Willingness to travel
