This volunteer program is perfect for those passionate about fighting for a more just world, eager to develop advocacy skills, and interested in understanding development finance. You’ll join a global network of individuals advocating for global justice.

- Community Action Support: Receive dedicated support to carry out creative and impactful community actions for ONE’s advocacy work.
ONE Canada Global Activist Role Description:
- Application Deadline: Wednesday, July 31st, 2024
- Location: Online and offline in Canada
- Start Date: August 2024
- Compensation: Voluntary role with reasonable expenses paid for ONE activities
- Time Commitment: 3-8 hours per month

About ONE:
ONE fights for a more just world by demanding investments that create economic opportunities and healthier lives in Africa. We seek passionate campaigners to join our inaugural ONE Canada Global Activist program. ONE will recruit, train, and support emerging leaders who will champion causes ONE supports across Canada. This is a fantastic opportunity to impact your community and the world while working with mission-driven ONE supporters in a supportive environment.
In This Role:
ONE Activists will have access to a range of advocacy tools and activities and will receive support to design and develop their own action plans with the ONE team. Expected actions include:
- Monthly High-Impact Actions: Write letters, deliver petition signatures, submit Letters to the Editor, make phone calls, and/or tweet at political leaders.
- Engagement with MPs: Participate in virtual and local meetings with your MP and/or their staff under the mentorship of the Campaigns Manager.
- Monthly Training Calls: Meet ONE staff and activists from across the country for updates on ONE’s campaigns, international development, and global health news.
- Local Events: Attend in-person events in your city as able.
Training & Requirements:
- Commitment: A one-year commitment is required, renewable annually.
- Monthly Meetings: Attend monthly virtual National Global Activist Meetings.
- High-Impact Actions: Take 1-2 high-impact actions per month (e.g., send an email to your MP).
- Communication: Maintain open communication with the Campaigns Manager.
What We Are Looking For:
- Passion for Social Justice: A strong desire to make lasting change.
- Interest in Growth: An eagerness to grow knowledge or skills in politics, policy, global development, advocacy, activism, public speaking, and/or storytelling.
- Policymaker Engagement: An interest in engaging policymakers on relevant issues.
- Commitment to ONE: A willingness to stay engaged with the ONE Campaign and mobilize support for ONE’s initiatives.
