Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Nationality: Be nationals of EU Member States or countries associated with the Research Framework Programmes.
  • Degree: Hold a recent university degree of at least three years (180 ECTS credits). The degree must have been awarded within the past five years.
  • Languages: Have a thorough knowledge of at least two EU languages, one of which should be English (minimum C1 level), or English for non-EU nationals.
  • Experience: Not have benefited from a traineeship or employment within a European institution or body for more than six weeks.

Selection Criteria

Candidates are evaluated based on:

  • Level of education and knowledge of English and other languages.
  • Relevant work experience and skills in field-related methodologies and technologies.
  • International experience in education, work, or volunteering.
  • Papers, publications, and conference participation.
  • Motivation and suitability for the specific field(s).

Conditions of Traineeship

  • Location: The traineeship will be at one of the JRC sites in Ispra (Italy), Geel (Belgium), Petten (the Netherlands), or Karlsruhe (Germany).
  • Duration: The program runs for five months starting in October 2024. Under exceptional circumstances, a start date postponement may be possible.
  • Allowance: Trainees receive a monthly allowance ranging from €1,308.04 to €1,577.91, adjusted by the correction coefficient for the respective site. Those living within 50km of the site receive half of the basic allowance.
