Generation Next Humanitarian Fellowship Program for for students from minority-serving institutions (Fully-funded)
The Generation Next Humanitarian Fellowship Program (GenNext Fellowship) aims to increase the diversity of professionals in the humanitarian sector by building a pathway for students from minority-serving institutions such as HBCUs, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, Tribal Colleges and Universities and Asian American and Pacific Islander Institutions.
USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) is funding a Humanitarian Fellowship Program with the Public Health Institute (PHI) to create new pathways into the humanitarian sector and provide guided technical and professional development opportunities for a more diverse workforce. PHI is partnering with the Cooperative for American Remittances to Europe (CARE), Global Communities, Project Hope, Save the Children, and other organizations to offer two-year paid fellowship opportunities that will build career pathways for recent graduates from Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs).
The Generation Next Humanitarian Fellowship Program aims to diversify the humanitarian sector by building a pathway for students graduating from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, Tribal Colleges and Universities, and Asian American and Pacific Islander Institutions.
Background on Fellowship Opportunity:
This two-year fellowship program will be open to up to 40 recent graduates. Through a robust mentorship program, fellows will participate in learning and professional activities to enhance knowledge and skills, expand professional networks, and obtain career development. Fellows will be provided with:
Competitive salary and benefits;
Opportunities to participate in a number of different career pathways in the international humanitarian sector;
Up to 60 days travel to the field during year one and up to a full year field placement during year two;
Rotational experience during the first year to build a humanitarian foundation;
Specialized training on both technical and professional skills;
Mentorship throughout the program; and
Opportunities to showcase their work at an annual symposium.
Eligibility Requirements
The Generation Next Fellowship Program is open to recent graduates from designated MSIs (within the past two years) with a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of work/professional experience. Experience can consist of internships, volunteer, research, classroom projects, work study and other work/school activities.
