UNU-WIDER Launches Free Online Training Course in Tax-Benefit Microsimulation for Global South Countries
UNU-WIDER is proud to announce the launch of an innovative online training course focused on tax-benefit microsimulation modelling for policy analysis, tailored specifically for countries in the Global South. This initiative aims to democratize access to advanced policy analysis tools and enhance capacity in evaluating the impacts of tax and social protection policies.
Democratizing Access to Policy Analysis Tools
Historically delivered through in-person workshops, UNU-WIDER’s SOUTHMOD project now offers a comprehensive online course using the EUROMOD platform. This course expands accessibility to microsimulation models, enabling a broader audience to estimate the effects of tax and benefit policies on national budgets, poverty rates, and inequality levels.
Who Can Benefit?
Designed for individuals in the Global South—including students, researchers, government officials, and professionals at international organizations and think tanks—the course requires no previous microsimulation knowledge. Beginners and intermediate users alike will find value in exploring the application of SOUTHMOD models.
