What is it?
The urgency of the climate crisis is more apparent than ever, and disruptive innovation is key to creating a more sustainable, prosperous, inclusive, healthy, and equitable future. The THRIVE Global Impact Challenge is a global search for the most innovative startups advancing a more sustainable future for agriculture.
Aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the Global Impact Challenge is focused on five key themes, each central to supporting the transition to a net-zero future for agriculture.
Winning Company
Finalists from each theme will advance to the finals and pitch at the THRIVE Global Impact Summit, where the overall winner will be announced. The winning company receives:
- A place on THRIVE’s award-winning Global Accelerator Program
- Investment from SVG Ventures up to $1 Million USD
- Opportunity to pitch live at the THRIVE Global Impact Summit in Silicon Valley
- Two complimentary tickets to attend the THRIVE Global Impact Summit and pre-summit networking reception

Focus Areas
- Soil Health & Biodiversity: Addressing soil erosion and biodiversity loss through regenerative agriculture, bio-based pest control, novel crop nutrition, and diversified ecosystems.
- Food Security & Waste Reduction: Promoting climate-resilient agriculture, optimizing resource use, and reducing waste to sustainably feed a growing global population.
- Reducing and Offsetting GHG Emissions: Focusing on renewable energy, energy efficiency, carbon capture technologies, and sustainable transportation to drive a low-carbon economy.
- Nutrition & Health: Enhancing nutrition and health with precision nutrition, cultivated food ingredients, rapid testing for quality and safety, and sustainable alternative proteins.
- Cleantech: Water and Energy: Leveraging smart irrigation, enhanced water measurement, eco-friendly inputs, bioenergy, and energy management to address global water scarcity.
Selection Criteria
To identify and support startups and entrepreneurs who align with our mission and vision, the following criteria will be used:
- Seed to Series A: Early-stage startups or entrepreneurs at the seed to Series A stage.
- Global Applicants: Open to startups from any country or region, valuing diverse perspectives and global collaboration.
- Adhesion to Focus Areas: Clear alignment with one or more focus areas, addressing specific challenges with innovative solutions.
- Proven Climate & Environmental Impact (Preferred): Demonstrated impact on climate and the environment through tangible outcomes and data-driven results.
