Global Health Corps Sexual Gender Based Violence Hackathon
Get ready for the 2024 Global Health Corps Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Hackathon!
This year up to $20,000 in startup grants are available for solutions to SGBV in Malawi. Last year’s Hackathon was a success! The April 2023 event provided a platform for leaders and multidisciplinary teams to innovate interventions against SGBV. Chetechete Sautsa Nyama and Tsogolo Langa emerged as winners after the four day event. Each received $20,000 in seed funding from D-Prize to implement their innovative community responses to intimate partner violence. During the 2023 Hackathon Chetechete Sautsa Nyama empowered SGBV survivors with skills and resources to thrive, while also increasing referrals of more SGBV cases to court and convictions of perpetrators. Tsogolo Langa distributed the World Health Organization curriculum ‘L.I.V.E.S’ on caring for female survivors of violence to communities.
