Microsoft Seeks Sustainability Policy Coordinator (Internship) for European Government Affairs Team
Microsoft is actively recruiting a Policy Coordinator to fortify its European Government Affairs team in Brussels, focusing primarily on sustainability and climate policy. The 12-month internship demands a dynamic candidate with robust analytical and communication skills, coupled with an open, collaborative, and results-oriented mindset. A profound passion for policy, politics, technology, and the role of business in society is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Political, Policy, and Regulatory Analysis: Engage in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on emerging public policy issues concerning European sustainability and climate policies, with a specific emphasis on energy, ESG reporting, supply chain traceability, circular economy, and carbon removals.
- Strategic Planning: Conduct stakeholder mapping to foster relationships with existing and incoming stakeholders in EU institutions. Provide continuous support to the team in developing internal strategies and plans to address engagement opportunities at the national and EU levels. Assist in coordinating high-level political engagements and Microsoft executive-level visits.
- Project Management: Collaborate on developing new cross-boundary projects with internal and external stakeholders, including European institutions, think tanks, or trade associations.
- Event Attendance and Reporting: Attend relevant external events and provide comprehensive summaries and analyses.
- Research and Writing: Support campaigning and senior staff with pertinent research, including editing documents and developing support materials such as briefing documents, conference support, decks, and talking points.
- Meeting and Event Organization: Assist in organizing meetings and events, collaborating with the EGA Events team and/or external partners.
Eligibilities:
- Work Experience: Previous internship experience in fast-paced environments, with a preference for experience in public affairs consultancies or EU institutions.
- Educational Background: A degree in law, political science, international relations, philosophy, or a related social science.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with European institutions, governance, legislative processes, and networks.
- Skills: Strong project management, planning, organizational, networking, and communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Adaptability: Ability to work well in a changing environment, prioritize competing demands on time, and ensure deadlines are met. A team player with a positive and friendly mindset.
- Interests: Keen interest in European and international politics, sustainability, and technology.
- Language: Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of other European languages is a plus.
