CANADIAN YOUTH OPPORTUNITY: Join the Eco-Action Accelerator with Ocean Wise! (Up to $5,000 in funding)

The Eco-Action Accelerator is a 16-week part-time microgrant program designed specifically for Canada Service Corps (CSC) alumni to help them scale up their service project ideas and develop sustainable long-term plans. As an alumni of this program, I highly encourage all passionate young environmentalists to apply! 🌊

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be 19-30 years old.
  • Be a CSC alumni.
  • Have a service project idea aimed at creating positive environmental change.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada.

What is the Eco-Action Accelerator?

The Eco-Action Accelerator is a 16-week part-time microgrant program that provides CSC alumni with the tools to scale up a service project idea and produce expansion plans focused on the long-term sustainability of the project. The program consists of three interconnected components:

  1. A 3-day retreat or in-person workshops in British Columbia.
  2. Six entrepreneurial workshops.
  3. Bi-weekly mentorship calls with a triad of peers.

Grantees are expected to spend approximately 5-10 hours/week working on the program to meet deliverables.

Program Expectations

During the 16-week program, Accelerator Grantees are expected to:

  • Participate in a 3-day retreat in British Columbia or Quebec (costs covered).
  • Engage fully in six virtual workshops and discussions.
  • Participate in regular mentorship triad calls with peers.
  • Lead an individual or collaborative project that contributes to positive environmental change.
  • Keep all relevant receipts and submit an expense report and a final report prior to the program end date.
  • Develop and submit a scale-up and/or long-term sustainable project plan.

Outcomes

Participants will achieve:

  • Project Development & Delivery: Develop a comprehensive short and long-term sustainable business plan using design thinking principles.
  • Entrepreneurial & Project Management Skills: Apply new skills and knowledge gained from workshops and retreats to project development and peer feedback.
  • Reconciliation, Inclusion & Accessibility: Incorporate actions for reconciliation, inclusion, and accessibility within the service project.
  • Capacity for Environmental & Community Action: Expand understanding of, interest in, and capacity for environmental action and community participation.
