About the Role
As the only specialized organization mandated to support educational policy, planning, and management, IIEP plays a unique role within the United Nations system. Established in 1963, IIEP helps ministries of education and their partners plan and manage education systems through training, technical cooperation, research and development, and knowledge sharing.
We are seeking up to two Associate Programme Specialists to contribute to our Medium-Term Strategy (2022-2025). Under the overall authority of the Director of IIEP and the Technical Cooperation Team Lead, and the direct supervision of the Cluster Lead for Equity and Resilience, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing technical cooperation projects, particularly in crisis-sensitive planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of technical cooperation projects, reinforcing capacities of Ministries of Education for climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability.
- Participate in discussions and negotiations with national and international partners.
- Monitor and report on project implementation, track results, and prepare evaluation reports.
- Undertake training activities, develop course materials, and participate in both residential and distance training programmes.
What We Are Looking For
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in educational planning and management, international development, social sciences, or economics.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in education technical cooperation projects, preferably with 1 year at the international level.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software (SPSS, SAS, STATA, R) and excellent IT skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English, with good knowledge of French. Knowledge of other official UNESCO languages is a plus.
